Fountain Tire is seeking a knowledgeable & safety-oriented Safety Specialist to be a key player supporting our stores in western Canada.
Reporting to the Manager of Safety, the focus of this role is to enhance and support the ongoing development of the Safety Excellence program for all Fountain Tire business units.

Primary Responsibilities include:
Coaching, Training & Engagement
- Support stores and Managers in WCB claims management and provide coaching at all Fountain Tire locations through internal audits, follow-ups, and corrective actions.
- Promote Safety awareness as a subject matter expert through internal engagement, external marketing opportunities, and industry partnerships - fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and workplace safety.
Safety Program Development & Compliance
- Research, develop, and deliver safety training programs and procedures with Learning and Development, ensuring compliance with provincial regulations
- Collaborate with Operations, Corporate Sales, and Learning & Development to integrate safety into business practices and training.
- Build and manage accessible tools, forms, and online resources to support Safety programs across all locations.
- Lead Safety recognition programs (COR, SECOR, MECOR), coordinate audits, reporting, and maintain relationships with certifying partners and regulatory bodies.
- Participate in special projects and ensure Safety processes remain current, effective, and documented.
Incident Management & Reporting:
- Investigate Safety incidents, liaise with OH&S/WCB reps, and ensure timely and thorough incident resolution.
- Ensure the availability and proper use of PPE and assemble, analyze, and maintain Safety data for audits, trend reports, and proactive program improvement.
- Support contractor pre-qualification and ensure consistent standards are met across third-party engagements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma in a relevant discipline, and a minimum of 2 years experience in a hands-on, frontline Safety environment
- Certified Auditor status a considerable asset.
- Several and/or all Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) courses completed.
- Familiarity with procedures for site safety, regulations, emergency procedures and WCB requirements.
- Strong analytical & decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- A positive, “can-do” attitude and customer focused approach that will enable dealing with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity.
- Proven experience in the effective coordination of projects from inception through implementation including maintenance of appropriate documentation.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication, consultation, and coaching skills.
- Superior writing skills demonstrated by current success in drafting materials for diverse audiences.
- Ability to travel to Fountain Tire locations (stores, retread plants, distribution centers, etc.); undertaking maintenance audits and site reviews throughout the year (40%)
